June 9th, 2010 At 18:36 hours Taskforce 4312 Stations 171, 172, 281, Quint 251, RIT 191, and Medic 33 where dispatched to 615 Chatsworth Road for a dwelling fire with reported victims trapped. C4300, E1911, and C1900 all signed on seconds after dispatch and were advised of multiple calls reporting a house on fire and the homes occupants reported to be disabled and unaccounted for. AC43901 arrived on location at 18:42 and confirmed a working on the second floor and requested the "All companies in service". Q4314 (w/5) Arrived at 18:49 hours and there crew went to work stretching a line through the division c door to the second floor. Q4314's crew reached the second floor and was met with high heat and zero visibility. Q4314's crews attempted to push into the second floor to perform a search and fire suppression but were forced back due to the increasing heat conditions. Q4314's crew stood fast at the bottom of the stairs as E4311's crew arrived and began ventilation operations. As ventilation was beginning conditions immediately improved and 14's crew was able to advance on the fire which was located in two rooms on the second floor. 14's Crew quickly knocked the bulk of the fire down. As additional companies began arriving they were assigned to pull additional lines as well as search operations. After completing a thorough search of the residence all searches turned up negative and it was confirmed by arriving family members. All crews did an excellent job and the fire was held to the rooms of origin with some minor extension into the attic. All crews remained on location for several more hours performing extensive overhaul of the structure. The fire is still under investigation by the Burlington county fire marshal’s office.

C4300 arrived shortly after and requested the "All Companies in Service" and 5 additional tenders. Q4314 and E1723 arrived simultaneously and pulled three CAFS lines. Crews pulled a 2 1/2" to protect the home which was an exposure. The other two lines focused on fire suppression efforts on the garage itself. As additional crews arrived they sent there manpower forward and where assigned additional tasks on the fire ground. Storm Keeps Crews Busy

March 13, 2010

Today as crews began to setup for our annual comedy blast the Station was dispatched to the first of many incidents to come as a major nor'easter rolled across our region bringing heavy rains and high winds. Crews were kept busy handling multiple reports of wires and trees that had fallen due to the wind. At the height of the storm Captain 4302 (D. Klotz) setup a command post at station 431 in order to effectively handle the number of incidents being handled. In addition to handling multiple tree and wires calls the crews also responded to two Dwelling fires both of which turned out to be minor in nature and where quickly held to first due units. In all the station had 20 Volunteers on hand and around approximately 20:00 hrs the command post was broken down with most of the members returning home or sitting down to enjoy the comedy blast. On a side note we would like to remind all residents that you should never approach down powerlines.

2010 Budget Results

Tabernacle Residents

Thank you for your vote of confidence and approving our annual budget. The voter turnout was the highest in our Board's history. Each of our firefighters works extremely hard for our residents and I thank them as often as I can, as should you. Unfortunately a few misguided individuals presented untruths to our residents regarding the purchase of a new fire truck for our community. Waiting as was suggested and approved by our residents will cost us thousands of dollars more. The new 2010 motor changes alone will cost the taxpayers an additional $30,000. As a resident and taxpayer I am disheartened. As your Fire Chief, our firefighters have saved you millions of dollars. Saturday, one of our residents, Ray McCarty who many of you know and who attends most township meetings, came up and shook my hand and said, "Thank you, you saved me $500 on my homeowners insurance." These are real dollars. For those of you who don't think the ISO rating means anything, please think again. For those who voted "NO" to put a truck on New Road, please think again. You fiscally hurt many of our residents on the east side of Tabernacle. The facts are the facts and we will strive harder in the future not to be subject to the false statements of a few. I am proud of what we have done and what we will continue to accomplish in the future. I am proud of our firefighters who never hesitate to answer the call for duty and we have proven our value to you, our customers. In the future, we will again ask you to approve a new truck and I hope that at that time you vote YES so that all of our residents are afforded the protection and savings we have worked so hard to achieve and that all deserve.

Chief John Welling, CFO, MiFireE
