New Road Garage Fire
May 13th, 2010 At 20:57 hours Taskforce 1720 Stations 178, 179, 431, and RIT 191 where dispatched to 221 New road for a reported dwelling fire. With our station packed for our monthly meeting C4300, Q4314, T4316, E4311, and FP4319 all responded immediately after dispatch. En route crews were advised of a caller reporting a detached garage fully involved. A1783 arrived on location confirming the report. C4300 arrived shortly after and requested the "All Companies in Service" and 5 additional tenders. Q4314 and E1723 arrived simultaneously and pulled three CAFS lines. Crews pulled a 2 1/2" to protect the home which was an exposure. The other two lines focused on fire suppression efforts on the garage itself. As additional crews arrived they sent there manpower forward and where assigned additional tasks on the fire ground. After the bulk of the fire was knocked down crews remained on location performing extensive overhaul of the garage and its contents. Q4314 also placed its ladder pipe in-service with CAFS and operated for several minutes to completely extinguish any reaming hotspots.
